Join us today and experience Life at Visa.Job DescriptionThis position is for an in-house attorney in Visa’s Legal and Ethics & Compliance group who will be a member of the legal team that supports the North America Sales and Client teams. In an increasingly competitive and diversifying payments ecosystem, these teams are critical to supporting Visa’s strategic initiatives. As a member of this team, you’ll provide thoughtful and pragmatic legal guidance to key teams at Visa to facilitate commercial agreements with Visa’s most important clients. We are looking for an organized, self-motivated individual who can work collaboratively to support Visa’s commercial goals in a complex, global environment.Essential FunctionsPrimary responsibilities include:Drafting and negotiating complex business transactions, including incentive, brand and strategic alliance agreements with traditional payment system participants like issuers, merchants, processors, and new payment system participants such as fintechs, neobanks and crypto walletsExtensive business dealings with Visa’s external client base including financial institutions, processors, merchants, and fintechsDrafting, updating, and managing template agreements to allow for more efficient contract administration processProviding legal support to Visa’s account executives responsible for managing global client relationshipsWorking closely with internal subject matter experts and regional attorneysThis is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.QualificationsBasic Qualifications:
- 5 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD
Preferred Qualifications:
- 6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD
- A member in good standing in of, and eligible to practice law in, at least one jurisdiction in the United States
- Proven ability to work with a diverse team to build effective working relationships with internal clients at all levels
- Strong people skills and experience with cross-functional and/or cross-regional teams
- Strong academic credentials
- Excellent analytical, problem solving and communication skills, including the ability to translate complex legal concepts into business-oriented advice
- Experience drafting and negotiating or litigating complex commercial transactions
- Self-starter who can work independently, effectively, and collegially on a small legal team
- Ability to successfully prioritize and oversee a large number of matters
- Developed business acumen, with the ability to understand the company’s business interests and anticipate the nature and magnitude of issues that could arise in a fast-paced environment
- Background and knowledge of some or all of the following is preferred: the payment services industry and related credit and debit processing industries, the legal and regulatory landscape governing, in particular, credit and debit cards, intellectual property law and antitrust and competition law
- Practical and proactive problem-solver, calm under pressure with a positive attitude and a sense of humor
