Job description: Overview:

  • Tier One Technologies is looking for a Sr. Cloud Architect for the US Government client located in Arlington, VA.
  • This will be a 100% remote contract-to-hire position.
  • SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop new software products or major enhancements to existing software.
  • Address problems of systems integration, compatibility, and multiple platforms.
  • Responsible for project completion. Performs feasibility analysis on potential future projects to management.
  • Evaluate existing software solutions to identify areas for improvement. Oversee architectural approaches from conception to installation.
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert to the organization for cloud end-to-end architecture, including Azure, GCP or AWS and future providers, networking, provisioning, and management.
  • Demonstrate leadership ability to back decisions with research and the “why,” and articulate several options, the pros and cons for each, and a recommendation.
  • Develop solutions architecture and evaluate architectural alternatives.
  • Define optimal design patterns and solutions for high availability and disaster recovery for applications.
  • Drive scope definition, requirements analysis, functional and technical design, application build, product configuration, unit testing, and production deployment.
  • Ensure delivered solutions meet/perform to technical and functional/non-functional requirements.
  • Provide technical expertise and ownership in the diagnosis and resolution of an issue, including the determination and provision of workaround solution or escalation to service owners.
  • Ensure delivered solutions are realized in time frame committed; work in conjunction with project sponsors to size and manage scope and risk.
  • Provide thought leadership in industry and to fellow team members across business and technical project dimensions solving complex business requirements

Qualifications:

  • A degree from an accredited College/University in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related discipline is preferred. If the individual’s degree is not in the applicable field, then 4 additional years of related experience is required.
  • 13+ years of experience in software development and/or related field.
  • Broad and extensive knowledge of the software development process and its technologies.
  • Knowledge of architectural styles and design patterns as well as understanding of various coding methods and computer languages.
  • Data modeling and database design experience.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes and service-oriented architecture (SOA).
  • DevSecOps, Secure Coding practices, and the Solutions Development Framework (Docker, Jenkins, GitLab).
  • Expertise with Cloud Architecture and Design and Development.
  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
  • Strong understanding of network architecture and application development methodologies.
  • Experience developing multithreading apps, performance tuning, and debugging.
  • Knowledge/experience with Agile Methodologies.
  • Knowledge/experience of SDLC practices.
  • Change Management and Configuration Management (VersionOne, ServiceNow, etc).
  • Application Lifecycle Management (ALM).
  • Experience in designing large and complex IT operations in large organizations. The position requires strong leadership and team building skills, and must be able to collaborate effectively with a group of high performing individuals as well as the Executive Leadership Team.
  • Experience with Azure, GCP or AWS enterprise implementations.
  • Knowledge of business process re-engineering principles and processes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance.
  • Be able to pass a drug screening, criminal history, and credit checks.
  • Must be a US Citizen or have permanent residence status (Green Card).
  • Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
  • Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
