From college students and early-career engineers to project managers, corporate executives, researchers, and academic leaders, ASME’s members are as diverse as the engineering community itself.We are seeking a dynamic leader to serve as Sr. Director, Infrastructure & Operations (IO) committed to ensuring operational excellence in alignment with overall business strategy. The Sr. Director will promote and implement best practices, proven methodologies and tools throughout IT. They will ensure the development and implementation of cost-effective systems and efficient technology operations to meet current and future business requirements. This individual will oversee the architecture and engineering of the infrastructure, telecom, network, helpdesk and security needs of the organization. In addition, they will be responsible for driving responsible implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) with a holistic IO approach across ASME’s technology stack.The Sr. Director will oversee and plan all aspects of infrastructure projects, operations and develop effective strategies to meet enterprise needs. They will work closely and collaboratively with leaders and team members across Architecture, Applications, Security, and Project Management to successfully deliver and support of the organization’s technology needs. They need to be familiar with relevant concepts, trends, procedures and will rely on extensive experience and judgment to execute plans and accomplish goals. The Sr. Director will provide consultation on complex projects and is the top-level contributor/SME in all matters related to infrastructure and operations.This position requires a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Information Technology field, inclusive of progressive experience in IT leadership roles with an IO focus. A bachelor’s degree in information technology, computer science, or related field or additional equivalent experience is needed; master’s degree is preferred. Qualified candidates will have expertise in technology strategy development and implementation along with a comprehensive understanding of emerging technology trends, infrastructure management, cloud computing, cybersecurity, and compliance. Demonstrated skills and expertise in a variety of areas needed, including:Technical Skills

  • Team-building and transformation of Help Desk functions utilizing best in class software (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Thorough knowledge of infrastructure, operations, application development, dev/ops, web and content delivery.
  • Significant experience with infrastructure technology designs, setups, installation, implementation and maintenance.
  • Oversight of software life cycle activities, conducting trend analysis, and applying project management frameworks.
  • Successful implementation, optimization and management of office automation platforms including Microsoft 365.
  • Effective design, implementation and management of cloud-based ultrastructure and operations platforms (specifically Microsoft Azure).
  • Experience in emerging technologies, particularly in AI applications such as Microsoft Co-Pilots and private large language models (LLMs).

Business Acumen

  • Proven expertise in managing security issues, crisis management, and business continuity, with a deep understanding of legal implications regarding technology.
  • Ability to effectively partner with key stakeholders on project prioritization and adoption strategies.
  • Working knowledge of International/Federal/State/Local laws and regulations regarding security and data management and retention.
  • Managing capital and budgets that are interdependent upon other business units; costing, budgeting, risk management, and financial analysis.

This role is eligible for a hybrid/remote work arrangement.
