We strive to assure patients and families by exceeding quality and patient experience metrics.Unit Overview:South Tower 5A/5C Medical Surgical units at ORMC have a maximum capacity of 52 semi-private beds (5A: 20 beds / 5C: 32 beds). We care for a diverse patient population with non-critical status, including long-term, pending placement, or skilled nursing facility needs, as well as surgical, medical management, and disease processes such as hypertension, pneumonia, COVID-19, and diabetes.Our units also provide cardiac monitoring with remote telemetry and safely transfer critically ill patients to stepdown/critical care units if necessary.Ideal Ratio:
- Nurses: 5:1
- Nursing Assistants: 8:1
- Charge Nurse on 5A | Charge Nurse on 5C (with no patient assignment)
Position Overview: As a Nurse Resident, you will provide patient care in an inpatient/observation setting for acute care patients undergoing active treatment. This position is ideal for new graduates seeking to develop their skills in a high-functioning, engaged team environment.Education/Training:
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
- Authorized by the Florida Board of Nursing (BON) to practice as a graduate nurse and has received a “Graduate Nurse” letter.
- Authorized to take the NCLEX by the examination vendor.
- Meets all mandatory, developmental, and performance competency requirements for Orlando Health and the unit/department.
Licensure/Certification:
- Must obtain Licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Florida or Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) multistate RN license within three (3) months of placement in this job.
- Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
- ACLS, NRP, PALS, TNCC are required for certain areas. NRP is required for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
