The purpose of the facilities is to provide comprehensive care for migrant individuals who are awaiting reunification or repatriation. This care will begin as soon as each occupant arrives at the facility and will last until their arranged departure. The comprehensive care includes but is not limited to initial screening and exams, identifications of prior conditions and allergies, day to day care of routine, urgent and emergency medical conditions.The Occupational Health Registered Nurse assumes responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing and performing employment related health screening. The Occupational Health Nurse works as part of the medical team to protect and promote the health of the working population.Key Responsibilities
- Assist with medical evaluations to include annual employee physicals, medical testing and the issuance of required immunizations.
- Ensure the contractor workforce is compliant with applicable US and host national laws for medical clearances.
- Assist medical providers with procedures and treatments as allowed within licensed scope of work.
- Collaborates with the Public Health Nurse and Infection Control Nurse and other internal and external experts and stakeholders concerning health and safety.
- Ensures medical records are maintained in compliance with applicable, policies, procedures, and standards.
- Assures compliance, clinical and other occupational related standards and develops and implements responsive policies and work improvement initiatives.
- Develops and implements case management strategies for operating units, performs and/or leads case coordination for claims and ensures appropriate and timely physician referrals interventions and treatments.
- Collaborates with managers and/or HR in the coordination of return-to-work assignments consistent with the employee’s rehabilitation and related employee programs.
- Ensures timely communication and support to program participants.
- Ensures Employee Incident Reports, First Reports, OSHA and associated documentation are processed timely and accurately in accordance with insurance, legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborates with internal leadership and staff and external experts to develop and implement policies, practices and other improvement initiatives concerning work-related injury prevention and related cost-containment.
- Performs and supervises staff performing occupational and corporate health physicals and screenings, including but not limited to, PFT, Audiograms, vision screening, new hire PE, medical surveillance programs, annual PE.
- Serves as clinical leader for the department and provides clinical expertise on facility related health/safety issues.
- Manages the pre-placement physical and fitness for duty assessment program for employment candidates.
- Participates in the investigation, follow up, and root-cause analysis of significant health/safety incidents within the system.
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with OSHA and/or other safety agencies and assists facilities with responses to agency inquiries and inspections.
- Provides support and education to help patients make responsible health decisions.
- Maintains supply inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level; anticipating needed supplies.
- Restocking clinical and provider areas once supplies are received.
- On-call rotation schedule participation as needed
This list is non-exhaustive, and the role holder may be required to undertake additional duties that are not specifically listed above.QualificationsRequired Skills and Knowledge:A minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a nursing role.Experience Preferred:
- Experience in immigration or refugee programs, working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor, is preferred.
- Experience in collaboration with state and local medical facilities is preferred.
Education Required:
- Current and unrestricted license to practice nursing in the State services performed.
- Current Occupational Health Nurse Certification preferred.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
Physical Demands:
- Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
- May require bending, stooping, and lifting up to 35 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
- Must be a US Citizen or possess a permanent resident card.
- Current MRPT Clearance preferred.
Additional InformationPay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
