Growing together.Optum Advisory Services is seeking a service-oriented Associate Director Business Intelligence to facilitate the expansion of operational insights and adoption of data-driven decision making to support optimization within client health systems. This role will be responsible for leading efforts to liberate data and insights to support operations of the healthcare delivery system.Key Activities:
- Lead the team and creation of new analytical content, enhancement of existing analytics, and rationalization of ineffective or outdated reporting within the business intelligence ecosystem
- Guide the design of the backend data architecture structures needed to effectively power dynamic business intelligence
- Facilitate team collaboration between business stakeholders, domain principals, subject matter experts (SMEs), and platform and technology team members to ensure the appropriate flow of data to business intelligence applications needed to power actionable reporting
- Provide the business intelligence expertise to inform the design of the data storage and ETL processes needed for analytical insights
- Lead the development of sophisticated data enrichment processes within business intelligence tools and the EDW that server as the single source of truth to expanded insights on base data
- Partner with the broader analytics team to support data lineage, effective data strategy, and user confidence in the validity, integrity, and actionability of the data
- Collaborate with leadership of business intelligence architects and domain analysts to maximize the effectiveness of business intelligence tools, dashboards, and other dynamic business intelligence capabilities
- Provide guidance and oversight for the entire analytic development lifecycle for new or materially modified content
- Manage access to content to ensure that only appropriate resources view data in appropriate ways

- Lead a team of business intelligence delivery or data analyst experts to drive value for client partners
- Lead efforts to create new analytical insights and capabilities related to clinical, financial, operational, and other related areas
- Act as a subject matter expert for business intelligence tools (e.g. QlikView, Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.)
- Create content onboarding and rollout strategies that promote the adoption and utilization of new business intelligence tools, products, or capabilities
- Support prioritization efforts of competing business needs considering resource availability in collaboration with Analytics leadership
- Create and promote business intelligence standards that help drive effectiveness of analytics and efficiency in new efforts
- Implement strategies to ensure that new analytics adhere to data and platform guidelines created in partnership with platform architects, data governance, data engineering, and other relevant teams
- Create business intelligence design standards and processes that expedite the turnaround time to create new analytics
- Create standards to retire outdated or unneeded business intelligence dashboards and tools
- Ensure complex analytics adhere to industry best practices
- Ensure effective documentation processes throughout all the entire analytical lifecycle

- 7+ years of health system analytics professional experience (e.g., business intelligence, program/product management, healthcare operations, clinical optimization, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and / or healthcare financial modeling)
- 4+ years involved with analytics capability components (e.g., architecture, infrastructure, data management, delivery, insights, governance)
- 4+ years of experience managing analytics initiatives with minimal guidance
- Ability to travel 10 to 20% to client locations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Solid experience in building new content within common reporting and business intelligence platforms (e.g. QlikView, Power BI, Tableau, MicroStrategy, etc.)
- Experience creating design standards for analytical content
- Experience with data migration, ETL tools, and related processes (e.g. SSIS, Informatica, etc.), advanced analytical methodologies
- Advanced degrees or certifications in Technology, Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science or related field
- Solid working knowledge of healthcare analytics and background in healthcare organizations
- Experience contributing to multi customer and cross-functional efforts, with proven success in creating healthcare analytics
- Experience building dynamic analytical capabilities inclusive of reporting, dashboards, extracts, BI tools, analytical web applications and other similar products
- Ability to communicate complex concepts verbally and in writing
- Experience and credibility interacting with analytics and technology leadership
- Willingness to travel up to 10%

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $104,700 to $190,400 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
