Growing together.The Associate Director, Marketing Automation leader is responsible for the hands-on designing, implementing and optimizing our provider marketing communication strategies to include the email production team leveraging Salesforce Marketing cloud.This role requires a blend of technical proficiency, creativity, analytical thinking, and leadership skills to effectively manage our automation communication platform and drive successful provider engagement leading to increased digital adoption of tools and platforms. As a Marketing Automation leader, you’ll have the opportunity to expand your multi-channel marketing, technology, and automations skills on a high-performing team that greatly impacts the healthcare professional experience.This position requires core knowledge of marketing automation platforms, what is needed to integrate data to drive action based, segmented, relevant communications, while also prioritizing and strategizing around digital channels first, for UnitedHealthcare’s national network of healthcare professionals.Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, 8 hour shift between 8am – 5pm local time; may need to work after hours based on business needsYou’ll enjoy the flexibility to telecommute* as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop strategy to enhance the team’s overall effectiveness of provider marketing communications by leveraging marketing automation and artificial intelligence.
- Lead the execution of automated communication strategies (e.g., email campaigns, provider portal, etc.) that drive interest and increase provider digital adoption, impact behavior change and have a positive impact on NPS
- Design and implement targeted campaigns in Salesforce Marketing Cloud, leading the creation of supporting automated workflows. Identify data needs to support our evolving way of communicating with our providers.
- Analyze and report on the effectiveness of automated communications, using data to build to insights, and enhance overall effectiveness
- Lead the creation of interaction experiments and employ A/B testing to regularly learn what audience engagement best advance our business
- Oversee and provide guidance to the team on marketing automation capabilities and deployment best practices
- Train and develop other members of the team to ensure successful delivery of automated communication strategies
- Continue developing technical expertise and certifications with automated communication tools

- 8+ years of experience of Database Marketing, CRM, Email, Digital, Direct Mail, 1:1 marketing
- 8+ years of client service and project management; in particular, must have the ability to communicate with both business and technical individuals effectively
- 8+ years of expert knowledge of database, email, digital, 1:1 marketing concepts and best practices, and stays current on emerging trends
- 5+ years of hands-on work experience creating marketing campaigns in enterprise-level marketing automation platforms such as SFMC, Marketo, leveraging journey builder, automation studio within, and other marketing technology platforms
- 5+ years of experience with AMPScript, HTML, SQL coding
- 3+ years of experience building and leading high performing teams of campaign and marketing automation specialists
- 4+ years of experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud; experience with other digital marketing automation systems (including Adobe Marketing Cloud)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with the highly regulated healthcare industry
- Knowledge of Salesforce Sales Cloud contact management and workflow automation
- Comfortable working in a virtual environment

- Ability to think strategically with a strong ability to execute plans and exceed stakeholder expectations and project goals
- Ability to work and lead initiatives independently without day-to-day supervision
- Track record of working in a matrixed organization and ability to get things done
