As part of our research administration team, this role is responsible for providing accounting, financial and grants management support to multiple units within the IMPH.This role will be responsible for varied and highly complex duties involving the use of accounting practices and ensuring compliance requiring the exercise of judgment in selecting and applying guidelines.NOTE: This position will provide remote, work-from-home opportunities much of the time, but you will be expected to work in our Nashville, TN office at times for occasional team events in person..The Institute for Medicine and Public Health at Vanderbilt exists

  • Initiating and processing complex transactions
  • Reconciling financial transactions, researching discrepancies, processing journal entries
  • Tracking financial and payroll information utilizing various databases and systems
  • Assisting with developing and analyzing various financial reports
  • Supporting faculty and senior staff in preparing and assembling grant proposals and contracts
  • Assisting with budget preparation for grant proposals
  • Assisting in monitoring compliance with sponsor, VUMC, and federal guidelines and deadlines
  • Assisting with preparation of support documents, biosketches, tables, etc.
  • Maintaining electronic files and databases
  • Serving as a resource to senior staff and administration
  • Other general administrative and financial support responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications:This position requires a Bachelor’s degree.Preferred experience and skills:

  • Strong experience with accounting and financial responsibilities
  • Familiarity with pre- and post-award administration
  • Advanced knowledge of spreadsheets and database applications
  • Professional work style with high level of problem solving skills
  • Additionally, successful candidates will possess and demonstrate extraordinary attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously while remaining helpful and courteous, be extremely organized, efficient, team player and self-starter.

Additional Information:
This is a full-time position; 40 hours per week, M-F.Salary is dependent upon education and experience.Background screens will be performed and education will be verified prior to employment. Please be prepared to provide required information and/or documentation.TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

  • Project Management (Novice): Planning, organizing, and managing resources to bring about the successful completion of specific project goals and objectives.
