What you’ll do as a Drafter Designer
- Create new Outside Plant (OSP) network designs in various applications/software
- Develop and issue work prints for OSP Telecom networks
- Work with Engineering and Construction departments and coordinate with permitting agencies
- Create documentation and reporting to support the work package, ie: bill of materials, labor quantities, etc.
- Ensure facility designs follow company standards and comply with the requirements of local, state and federal regulations, which may include Rural Utilities Service (RUS)
- Provide any documentation required for the cost-effective placement of communication facilities
- Meet project deadlines and successfully complete tasks under tight timelines
- Other duties as assigned
What you’ll need
- To be 18 years of age or older
- Authorization to work in the United States for this company
- High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or at least three years of telecommunications OSP Drafting Experience is required
Knowledge of
- Telecommunications industry standards
- Aerial, buried and underground construction methods and engineering requirements
- OSP Communications Design systems
- Familiar with OSP aerial and underground copper cabling and removing cables, cable throws, cable pair reassignments and cutting cables dead (e.g. ppx’ing cables)
- Some OSP Engineering helpful, but not required.
- Applications such as Microstation/IDDS
- Copper optic counts, copper assignments and splicing schematics in a high-density fiber environment
Physical abilities & exposures
- Routinely: Work alone in remote locations, use keyboard and mouse
- Occasionally: Operate vehicle, climb stairs, stand, walk
