If you receive correspondence from an entity other than @Olympus.com, it is likely not legitimate.Job DescriptionThe Manager of Medical Content reports directly to the Global Head of Scientific Communications and is leading the medical-scientific communication and evidence governance of a dedicated therapeutic area from new product development throughout the product life cycle. The multi-facetted responsibility includes evidence dissemination from publication planning with external and internal stakeholders and articulation of medical value to external stakeholders to meet Olympus` obligations to patients and the healthcare community as well as the provision of medical insights into the organization.Job Duties
- Functioning as medical-scientific subject matter expert and leading the scientific communication for the assigned therapeutic area; liaising with internal cross-functional stakeholders as well as external stakeholders to achieve timely and high-quality deliverables to identify data gaps and activities to feed the scientific communication plan and platform.
- Evidence Governance
- Regularly monitoring the publication landscape through targeted literature searches to educate internal stakeholders and inform content development.
- Provisioning of medical insight through literature analyses answering dedicated research questions that inform Early Opportunity Evaluations and New Product Developments.
- Evidence Dissemination
- Developing, continuously iterating, and updating strategic integrated publication plan(s) in conjunction with changes in the scientific landscape. Tracking progress of deliverables and ensuring organizational awareness of activities.
- Managing external expert stakeholders (HCPs), such as authors and publication steering committees, to provide advice and shape the publication plan strategy.
- Assuming responsibility for the incorporation of the medical value grounded in science and existing evidence into value messaging and scientific narrative of a device and/or technology
- Creating tailored medical education content for internal & external stakeholders via the best communication channel.
- Continuously evaluating nascent communication channels and methods to meet information consumption habits and increasing awareness of Olympus technology and clinical programs.
- Managing professional relationship with the assigned business units, marketing & commercial, and other relevant Olympus stakeholders, such as other MSA functions, legal and compliance.
- Contributing to scientific communication governance by contributing to the development of key performance indicators (KPI), reports, and reporting structure.
- Responsible for interfacing and collaborating with external stakeholders and internal cross-functional MSA teams to ensure delivery of medical information according to plan and with quality.
- Other related job duties as assigned.
Job QualificationsRequired:
- MS Degree in life sciences, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience within a device/pharmaceutical companies (preferably in multiple phases and multiple roles) and with ideally 1-2 years of experience in medical and scientific communications.
- Budget and forecasting experience.
- Strong consulting, facilitation, and communication skills bridging between scientific communication and business priorities, to manage effective international and cross-divisional collaboration.
- Comfortable liaising with KOLs to manage publication plans and chair publication steering committee meetings.
- Experience working in a global cross-functional team (functional/matrix) environment and knowledge and/or experience working with groups with varied cultural backgrounds and learning styles is required.
- Occasional domestic and international travel (
10%), including weekend and evening travel as needed.Preferred:
- Additional degree such as PhD, MBA
- Ability to think strategically, critically analyze and synthesize complicated data and scientific information.
