Job description: Overview:
Align Social Impact is seeking an experienced Research and Partnerships Manager to join the New York team’s growing social impact practice for a five-month contract from August to December 2024. Align is a full-service strategy and impact agency at the nexus of storytelling, research, philanthropy, culture and systems change, and we specialize in serving brand, nonprofit, talent and foundation clients worldwide to accelerate their impact in ways that can be felt and measured. The Social Impact Research and Partnerships Manager will play an integral role in supporting our projects and initiatives by conducting research, crafting compelling narratives, and effectively communicating findings to team leaders and Align’s Social Impact clients.Our Ideal Candidate is:

  • Confidentiality and a keen eye for detail are crucial for ensuring the accuracy and precision of research findings, written content, and visual materials.
  • A dedicated client-facing professional with expertise in managing cross-sector clients, understanding and developing ESG, CSR or campaign goals and objectives
  • An agile generalist, builder and program designer with a knack for developing communications, campaigns, messaging and program strategies that meet client or company needs.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines is essential for success in this role.
  • Equipped with experience and is a knowledgeable and professional team leader and mentor with the ability to play a leadership role within a growing team and impact consultancy.
  • Calm under pressure, with high situational awareness, intuition and the ability to develop ideas and iterate with clients and colleagues in real time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to conduct in-depth research on social and environmental issues, existing impact programs, policies, and best practices.
  • Collect and analyze data from credible sources to inform project strategies, program design and recommendations.
  • Ability to produce reports for both academic and non-academic audiences about social impact programs, practices, trends and research studies.
  • Ability to analyze program designs, theories of change, impact frameworks and related research studies and explain implications to non-researcher team members to improve our own strategy and tactics.
  • Ability to collaborate with our communications and client teams to use data accurately and persuasively in presentations to media, partners, program staff and stakeholders.
  • Develop evidence-informed reports, briefing documents, case studies and engaging written content, including reports, articles, blog posts, and presentations.
  • Create visually appealing materials, such as infographics and data visualizations, to enhance communication efforts.
  • Support client engagement efforts through effective communication and relationship building.
  • Manage timelines, budgets, and deliverables for research and communication activities.
  • Track research project progress in work plans and provide regular updates to stakeholders.
  • Identify and mitigate risks to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff members on research, analysis, reporting and communication techniques.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., communications, public policy, social sciences).
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in research and communications, preferably in the social impact sector.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present data effectively.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Passion for social justice, sustainability, and making a positive difference in the world.

More Details:

  • Reports to Account Director.
  • Two days per month in the NYC office required.
  • Five-month Contract, starting in early August.
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • $6,000 per month, flat rate cap.
  • Must be authorized for employment in the United States.
