Job description: *** This position requires residing in the Missoula, MT area. The Senior IT Project Manager within the Strategic Delivery Office (SDO/PMO) plays a critical role in the delivery of business technology projects across Washington Companies. Responsible for the planning, execution, completion and measurement of IT projects. You have the experience and ability to take a project from an original concept through final implementation and project closure. Interface with all teams and resources affected by the project including end users, infrastructure teams, applications, security, support, vendor partners and other key stakeholders. You will define the project scope and objectives. Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project budgets, resource plans and status reports. Conducts project meetings and is responsible for all project tracking and analysis. Ensure adherence to quality standards and required project deliverables. Manages the integration of vendor tasks and reviews vendor deliverables in collaboration with project stakeholders. Leverages internal and external experts to provide technical and analytical guidance to the project team. Actively participates in the overall Washington Companies project management practice and engages in process improvements for the overall project methodology, tools and process.Hours:This is a salaried position that will primarily work onsite. Some remote work flexibility may be provided. This is a full-time 40-hour-a-week position. Applicant must be willing to work additional or non-standard hours to support delivery of time-critical project deadlines. Travel will be required to company locations to support projects as needed (generally not over 25%).Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Position Qualifications & Skills Required:
  • Requires BS/BA in computer science, business or related field, Masters degree preferred
  • Must have 10+ years of experience with program and project management, in a technology environment.
  • Mastery of established project management methodologies and best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and mentor less experienced Project Managers
  • PMP Desired
  • Leadership: Strong leadership and oversight skills to guide project processes, make strategic decisions, and influence outcomes. Proven ability to work across teams and organizations to drive unity in approach.
  • Organizational Change Management: Skilled in facilitating cross-functional collaboration and leading change initiatives to support integration and efficiency.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, capable of articulating complex concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  • Technical Understanding: In-depth knowledge of IT infrastructure, software development, and related technologies in order to support project planning, mentoring and collaboration across IT.
  • Tools Expertise: Mastery of project management tools such as Smartsheet, Jira, Azure DevOps, or equivalent software.
  • Continuous Improvement: Strong focus on process optimization and implementing improvements across projects and teams.

Certifications or relevant experience required:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or PMI PMBOK training
  • ADKAR or similar Change Management Training
  • Experience with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices is preferred.
  • Six Sigma or other continuous process improvement training

  • Responsible for leading multiple projects or larger scale complex projects
  • Accountable for defining and managing overall project scope for the life of the project
  • Create a detailed project schedule and manages project resources accordingly
  • Identify, track and mitigates project issues and risks. Able to escalate issues and resolution plans quickly and effectively
  • Effectively allocate and forecast project-level resources
  • Manage project schedules to ensure accurate forecasting of project completion dates
  • Build and track a detailed budget for the projects. Provides regular project financial status including actuals and forecasted project spend.
  • Deliver projects to meet business-defined project goals
  • Collaborates successfully across both internal and external resources.
  • Forecast project completion spend (Estimate at Completion)
  • Facilitates post go-live hand off to production and project closure steps
  • Provides weekly project status updates and coordinates for regular steering committee meetings with IT leaders and/or key stakeholders
  • Log actual time spent on projects
