Job description: Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Windows Engineer (AWS) to join a government consulting company for a fully remote opportunity. As a Windows Engineer within the AECC, you will be integral to supporting the migration and ongoing maintenance of enterprise applications on Amazon AWS.Responsibilities:– Work closely with clients to understand their application environments, assess architectural needs, and design solutions that emphasize cloud-native approaches.– Create and submit documentation for application deployment and upgrades to internal and external stakeholders.– Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure to support client applications.– Oversee the daily administration and support of Windows-based virtual machines.– Implement security hardening for Windows services in alignment with best practices and government cybersecurity requirements.– Troubleshoot and conduct root cause analysis for any Windows-related issues.– Coordinate and execute major OS version upgrades for virtual machines.– Develop and maintain comprehensive system, infrastructure, and process documentation, including system diagrams, network topology, and standard operating procedures.– Develop, deploy, and manage Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for Windows-based services.– Troubleshoot and analyze issues across network, storage, operating system, and application layers.– Administer the Amazon AWS portal for ALTESS cloud customers, managing AWS resources and configuring alerts and notifications.– Provide on-call support to address and resolve after-hours production incidents.– Recommend improvements to enhance security, scalability, manageability, and performance across various network, storage, and compute technologies.Required Skills:– Security+ (or equivalent IA certification)-Relevant cloud computing certifications (e.g., Amazon Certified Cloud Practitioner, AWS Certified Solutions Architect)– Education: Master’s degree with 10+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience.– Security Clearance: Minimum requirement of a fully adjudicated DoD Secret clearance.– Citizenship: Must be a U.S. citizen.– Extensive experience as a Senior Cloud Engineer, with required experience in IaaS and preferred experience in PaaS.– Fundamental understanding of networking concepts (routing, firewalls, load balancing) is required; knowledge of server technologies and application stacks is preferred.– Proficiency in managing Amazon AWS cloud resources.– Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.– Proven ability to manage multiple large-scale projects in a fast-paced environment.– Strong troubleshooting skills across the entire technology stack, including network, storage, server, and applications.– Experience with automation tools and scripting languages such as Ansible, Terraform, Python, PowerShell, Bash, Puppet, and Chef.– Familiarity with DoD STIGs and IA Vulnerability Management (IAVM) is preferred.Compensation:-Salary: $90,000- $130,000/ year-Benefits: health, vision, and dental insurance, PTO, 401k, etc-Term: Long Term Contract. The program is funded until 2028-Location:100% remote.
