  • Develop and analyze models to assess the effectiveness of different preventive measures in reducing illness in military and beneficiary animal populations.
  • Utilize a One Health paradigm approach as a technical expert in biostatistics, epidemiology, and health surveillance of animal populations.
  • Manages a centralized data repository and veterinary medical bio-surveillance operations for both the military and beneficiary animal populations.
  • Manage computerized databases and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Machine Learning (ML) and Big Data Analysis (BDA) technologies.
  • Provide consultative assistance to leadership officials of other Department of the Army and Department of Defense agencies on matters related to biostatistics and epidemiology.
  • Prepare scientific summaries for presentation at major scientific professional meetings and symposia.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and symposia as a technical liaison and representative from the organization.
  • Propose new concepts and alternative solutions to problems based on technical findings.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Degree: that included 15 semester hours in statistics (or in mathematics and statistics, provided at least 6 semester hours were in statistics), and 9 additional semester hours in one or more of the following: physical or biological sciences, medicine, education, or engineering; or in the social sciences including demography, history, economics, social welfare, geography, international relations, social or cultural anthropology, health sociology, political science, public administration, psychology, etc. Credit toward meeting statistical course requirements should be given for courses in which 50 percent of the course content appears to be statistical methods, e.g., courses that included studies in research methods in psychology or economics such as tests and measurements or business cycles, or courses in methods of processing mass statistical data such as tabulating methods or electronic data processing.ORB. Combination of education and experience — courses as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. The experience should have included a full range of professional statistical work such as (a) sampling, (b) collecting, computing, and analyzing statistical data, and (c) applying statistical techniques such as measurement of central tendency, dispersion, skewness, sampling error, simple and multiple correlation, analysis of variance, and tests of significance.Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes researching pathogens/disease processes; processing biological data using statistical software; identifying health and safety risks from Zoonotic disease/One Health/Animal disease data; evaluating the disease, threat, or injury impact on public health/Force Health Protection; communicating findings to leadership and the public; and assisting with policy development. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12).EducationFOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
