We deliver insights at critical points of care for better decisions — from streamlining prior authorizations to delivering comprehensive medication histories to facilitating messages between providers.Job Summary:The VP, Data Science and Advanced Analytics will define and execute Surescripts data science, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence strategy and lead the Surescripts Data Science team in developing and implementing data-driven solutions across various business functions, collaborating with cross-functional teams to analyze complex data sets, derive actionable insights, and drive strategic decision-making. This is a hands-on role that will both build and lead a team to establish and innovate best-in-class data science and artificial intelligence at Surescripts.Working closely with the other leaders of the Data and Analytics Department, as well as Network Technology and Operations, Product Innovation, other departments, the incumbent ensures alignment of prioritization of work and appropriate allocation of resources. The incumbent will lead efforts around process improvement to enhance team effectiveness in leveraging advanced analytics tools and techniques in our Google Cloud environment.#LI-REMOTEResponsibilities:Establish and lead the data science, advanced analytics, and artificial intelligence strategy and roadmap aligned with Surescripts vision, goals, and objectivesServe as a change agent to advance the organization’s knowledge and skills in the use of data and AI to solve business and customer problems.Identify opportunities to leverage data-driven insights for revenue growth, customer satisfaction improvement, and cost optimization.Establish data science initiatives that align with the organization’s overall missionOversee the delivery of all data science outputs, ensuring accuracy and proper adherence to all data governance, privacy, and data usage rules.Advanced Analytics: Oversee application of statistical and machine learning techniques to collect and analyze large datasets and identify patterns by developing predictive models, deep learning algorithms, and frameworksData Exploration: Explore and preprocess data from various sources, measuring and ensuring data quality and integrity.Model Development: Oversee design, build, and validation of predictive models to solve business problems.Data Visualization and Storytelling: Create compelling visualizations to communicate findings and insights to leadership stakeholders including the Executive Team and Board.Collaboration: Work closely with cross functional leaders to translate business requirements into solutions.Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to data scientists, data analysts and engineers within the team. Serves as a mentor/role model, imparting analytic knowledge, experience, and skills to other staff at all levels, either individually or as a member of project teams.Continuous Learning: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data science.Oversee application of advanced Tableau functionality (parameters, actions, tooltip modifications, API, etc.) in the creation of analytical dashboards, as appropriate.Understand all applicable data privacy and security laws, rules, regulations, and contractual restrictions, and follow all Surescripts data governance and data usage rights policies and procedures.Communicate companywide and cross-functional information and updates regarding new AI and Advanced Analytics tooling, roadmaps, events, and training.Demonstrate ability to communicate complex analytic results in a clear and concise fashion to sponsors/clients at all levels, and to audiences of all sizes.Summarize and synthesize large bodies of work down to the essential elements and convey those results effectively and efficiently, in both written and oral form, to the most senior leaders in client organizations.Effectively communicate with & engage colleagues at all levels of the organization.Effectively distribute responsibilities to the appropriate people and levels.Develop internal and external networks of contacts and have a positive influence on those networks.Play a key role in supporting corporate initiatives and support senior leadership initiatives to realize Surescripts’ goals.Lead the recruiting, hiring, development, and retention of a high performing data scientist team.Qualifications:Basic Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or other related field; or equivalent experience (Master’s preferred)12+ years of experience in data science, data management and/or applying data analysis and reporting skills in a business context8+ years of managerial experience, preferably in analytics, data science, or related roles.Proven ability to lead, manage, and develop a team of data scientists, analysts, and engineersDemonstrated expertise in leading data teams and implementing successful data initiatives. Understand the business context and how data can drive value across different functions (e.g., operations, marketing, finance).Ability to provide strategic leadership and set a clear vision for the data analytics function.Experience in establishing and enforcing data governance policies to ensure data accuracy, security, and compliance.Strong understanding of data quality assurance processes.Familiarity with healthcare data, electronic health records (EHRs), and patient outcomes.Excellent written and verbal communication skills to convey complex data insights to stakeholders at all levels.Experience in evaluating and managing relationships with data vendors, software providers, and external consultants.Experience in healthcare transaction data, including QA, testing and reportingExperience with large transactional datasets/reportingProficiency in Advanced Excel and PowerPointProficiency with data analytics tools and languages such as SQL /PLSQL, Relational and NoSQL databases, and Structured and Unstructured dataProficiency with statistical methods, predictive modeling, machine learning, deep learning, and artificial intelligenceAnalytical background and research experience with large volume of person dataFluency in programming languages to facilitate analysis (e.g. R, Python or MATLAB)Prior experience with statistical modeling using healthcare data.Ability to translate statistical analysis into a written and verbal presentation for non-data science audience.Advanced knowledge of reporting platforms such as COGNOS, Tableau Server/SoftwareExperience and developing training material and delivering training to user groups of 10 or moreKnowledge of privacy laws and regulations around health data (HIPAA)Preferred Qualifications:Master’s degree or above in a relevant field such as data science, business analytics, statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a quantitative disciplineHealth IT industry knowledge with a special focus on e-prescribingExposure to statistical analysis and rigor, statistical software (SAS)Experience with large language models or natural language processing.Project management experienceGoogle Cloud environment expertiseSurescripts embraces flexibility through its Flexible Hybrid Work model for most positions. At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $239,300 – $292,500 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.Benefits include, but are not limited to, comprehensive healthcare (including infertility coverage), generous paid time off including paid childbirth and parental leave and mental health days, pet insurance, and 401(k) with company match and immediate vesting.
