The Associate Medical Economics Analyst provides decision support to management through detailed and complex analyses of healthcare trends, measurement of cost of care performance, and evaluation of program effectiveness in the Health Plan. The analyst supports business leadership by providing insight into trends and the value of programs/initiatives using medical cost analytics to drive action.Job DescriptionKey Outcomes
- Identifies, monitors, and analyzes health care cost trends, including utilization, cost, provider billing practices and reimbursement rates
- Works collaboratively with Medical Economics team and partners in the Health Plan to identify medical cost drivers and savings opportunities
- Supports analysis of initiatives or post-implementation to track performance and recommend modifications as needed
- Assists in monitoring Health Plan financial integrity from provider contracting through claim adjudication
- Provides support to leadership in developing cost of care budgets and trend projections for CMS Bids, DHA Rate Negotiations, and other initiatives
- Conducts complex analyses using SQL and Excel
- Works collaboratively to develop and present analyses in clear and useful format to business leadership
- Other duties as assigned
Education/Experience:
- BS/BA degree and
- 3+ years’ experience in broad-based analytical, managed care payor or provider environment (educational experience may fulfill this requirement in some circumstances)
- Experience using data to tell a story
- Understanding of provider reimbursement, including fundamental healthcare billing and coding concepts preferred
- Experience navigating and analyzing health care claims data preferred
- Master’s degree preferred
