Come join us and help solve the world’s most challenging energy problems!Purpose:The Design Engineering Group within the Nonreactor Nuclear Facilities Division (NNFD) is seeking a Designer/Drafter with an emphasis in the design of custom mechanical equipment. The candidate will work with engineers to prepare design packages to support the nuclear facility and research operations within the Isotope Science and Engineering Directorate (ISED).Major Duties / Responsibilities:
- Work with engineers to develop complex designs and drawing packages
- Interface with vendors, OEMs, and distributors to gather data and select design components
- Collaborate with project team members and end users to identify requirements and constraints
- Coordinate system walkdowns and equipment inspections to gather project information (photos, field measurements, as-built conditions, etc.)
- Prepare drawing revisions for red-lines and drawing change notices (DCNs)
- Participate in design reviews and drawing checks among the design engineering group

Basic Qualifications:
- AS Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design (CADD) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum of five years of experience working as a designer and drafter using CAD software
- Experience designing custom equipment among multiple engineering disciplines
- Detail oriented, strong organizational skills, and ability to follow through on tasks
- Ability to work on multiple projects and adapt to changing priorities
- Self-motivated and eager to learn new things and self starter
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with activities and equipment in a nuclear operating environment (gloveboxes, shielded casks, hot cells, remote operations, pressure vessels, nuclear ventilation, etc.)
- Experience using the following CAD software packages: Inventor, SolidWorks, & AutoCAD
- Experience using Autodesk Vault or an equivalent product data management system
- Experience using 3D scanning equipment and / or converting point clouds to Revit models
- Knowledge of the ASME Y14 standards specifically Y14.5 – Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
