The DevOps engineer identifies and optimizes the interdependencies between applications development and infrastructure operations through a collaborative approach to continuous delivery for both on-prem and government cloud environments.
Job Responsibilities
- Meet with management, decision-makers, systems owners, and end-users to define business, and operations requirements to identify systems goals and/or issues.
- Actively participate in the development and management of government cloud technology roadmap. Ensures government cloud technology solutions are aligned to solution patterns, application frameworks, and the technology roadmap.
- Understands the government regulations for cloud computing products and development.
- Collaborates with applications development teams and architects to promote the adoption of the DevSecOps to raise security awareness in infrastructure, application development.
- Participates in a team responsible for configuration, packaging, and deployment of the development software and custom applications for government projects
- Plan and coordinate requirements gathering, justification, procurement, configuration, and distribution of test IT equipment based on budget. Coordinate with purchasing agents and vendors to ensure accurate and timely item procurement and delivery
- Provides subject matter expertise on application server technologies
- Responsible for key system design and integration decisions around tools, processes, and practices enabling teams to apply DevOps practices
- Actively involved in the daily operational activities that impact important components/processes of the On-line Technology engineering work function
- Executes deployment operations to monitor and improve on pre-release, upgrades, and current versions of software
- Evaluates compatibility of programs with existing communications hardware and software features.
- Develops protocols to support established government development standards
- Improves operation and monitoring of advanced or complex features
- Develops processes and interface requirements
- Responsible for data development and definition of acceptance criteria
Job Skills
- Overall 5+ years of experience in the industry
- Experience managing code and dependencies in Azure DevOps, GIT along with other Configuration management best practices.
- Experience with, or migration from, GitLab/Subversion/Atlassian platforms to Azure DevOps
- Experience with Azure and AWS resource management using ARM templates, Terraform templates and Azure APIs.
- Proven experience performing root cause analysis in complex and distributed systems and environments. • Able to write SQL scripts and automation scripts using python/ansible in unix or windows environment. • In-depth knowledge on LINUX/UNIX system and working knowledge of UNIX shell scripts and/or PowerShell.
- Understanding of Infrastructure as Code and practical application of IaC to manage infrastructure.
Job Qualifications:
- Experience in a technical engineering role, such as software development, release management, deployment engineering, site operations, technical operations, and/or mobile
- Experience in Technical Operations in an online environment
- Experience in Technology infrastructure, such as network, monitoring, systems, databases, etc
