Job description: Director of Technical ServicesThe Director of Technical Services leads and oversees a technical team that effectively and efficiently provides all biomedical technical services and other services to assigned IRC dialysis facilities and programs. The Director ensures technical team efforts support a safe dialysis and working environment for patients and staff. The Director prioritizes, drives, and implements all strategic and tactical biomedical technical initiatives and projects across IRC dialysis facilities and programs in partnership with operations leadership and management.Essential Functions:
1. Demonstrates strong servant leadership for internal customers (clinic/facility operations), the Technical Services team, and other stakeholders.
2. Aligns and drives team’s work with organizational performance and budget goals.
3. Creates an atmosphere of congeniality, accountability, and respect.
4. Provides technical leadership to and supports Medical Directors and dialysis facility management.
5. Leads by example and builds a responsive and collaborative culture, ensuring staff respond timely to voice mails, text and emails from Medical Directors, clinical and technical staff, and others.
6. Oversees the quality and timeliness of the Managers of Technical Services’ and other technical team members’ performance.
7. Provides assistance and guidance on a variety of technical matters, including annual technical reviews and the hiring/training of technical staff as appropriate.
8. Maintains current knowledge of CMS Dialysis and Life Safety Code Regulations.
9. Works with the Vice President of Technical Services in implementing and/or updating KPIs, technical policies, procedures and documentation, such as the Technical Operations Manual, Chlorine Log and QAPI.
10. Monitors Manager of Technical Services’ submissions and provides reports as requested.
11. and/or monitors a variety of technical tasks, including product recall information, corporate purchase orders, and product cost analysis.
12. Along with the Vice President of Technical Services, works closely with Vendor National Account Representatives where applicable.
13. Supports and participates in projects, initiatives and meetings as needed.
14. Leads and participates in various weekly and monthly team meetings.
15. Completes and submits purchase orders for specific items that are ordered by Corporate Technical Services.
16. Improves facility efficiencies in technical areas, including costs, technical coverage, etc.
17. Performs other job duties as assigned.Supervisory Responsibility:
This position has overall supervisory responsibility for employees in the Technical Services department. The Director provides guidance, coaching, and mentoring to foster a high-performing and collaborative team. Responsibilities include overseeing and managing the overall performance of employees, including corrective action, performance reviews, creating goals and providing ongoing feedback and development opportunities. Conducts interviews and makes employment offers in collaboration with human resources.Position Type, Expected Hours of Work & Travel:
This is a Full-Time position. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., though at times flexibility is required per business need. Some travel as needed is expected for this position and can vary depending upon facility and Technical Service’s needs. Travel may be outside the local area and overnight.Required Education and Experience:
– Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or a related field is required; Master’s degree preferred.
– 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in technical services management within the healthcare industry, with a strong preference for experience in dialysis operations.
– 5+ years as a Regional Manager of Technical Services or equivalent.
– In-depth knowledge and understanding of AAMI Guidelines, State-specific, and Federal Medicare Regulations pertaining to dialysis clinic operations.
– Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans to optimize technical operations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
– Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex technical issues and implement effective solutions.
– Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.Equal Opportunity Employer:
