Overview:Professional Revenue/Coding Physician Educator manages and serves as the liaison for each CMH coding vendor(s) assigned to code professional fee charges. Serves as the CMH liaison between the physician practices and the coding vendor(s). Reports to Prof Rev Education Supervisor and/or HIM Assistant Director of Professional Revenue for standard operating procedures, quality and competencies. Manages the coding of the professional fee clinical services closely with other respective areas within Revenue Cycle to ensure coding compliance and charge capture. Educates and provides consultation services to physicians, clinical staff, and other medical staff in reference to documentation and coding guidelines. Attend meetings as requested by Health Information Management leaders. Serve as the coding subject matter expert on the Professional Fee side and works closely with the physician’s and administrative staff at the physicians’ offices.Our ideal candidate will have the following:
- Experience doing provider and coder auditing of CPT, E&M, HCPCS and ICD-10-CM codes from medical records for D&B specialties in a teaching facility.
- Expertise with social work, developmental, psychiatric, psychological, and family therapy is required.
- Extensive knowledge of medical terminology.
- Experience in researching and applying coding rules and regulations.
- Must have experience with data entry of codes into a database and/or software tool.
- Requires experience in MS Excel.
- Must have excellent organizational skills and a high level of professionalism.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Develop and deliver educational presentations and materials to healthcare providers on coding principles, guidelines, and updates. Conduct education sessions to enhance providers’ understanding and application of coding standards.

- Provide coding education to physicians and medical team.
- Audit and Review of patient records to determine coding accuracy and provide feedback.
- Coding presentations to communicate audit findings to clinical areas.
- Additional job functions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree Preferred and 1-2 years experience professional and/or facilities coding experience or
- Associate’s Degree and 3-5 years experience professional and/or facilities coding experience or
- HS diploma or equivalent and 5-7 years experience in lieu of a degree
- One of the following: Certified Professional Coder, Certified Coding Specialist required upon hire
- CPC Certified Professional Coder CCS, CPMA Required Upon Hire
