Job description: Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor of Architecture, Interior Design, or related field and 3 years of experience in a design-oriented architecture role with a focus on space planningJob Summary:The Facilities Planner works under close supervision of a Facilities Planning Program Director or Senior Facilities Planner. The primary purpose of the Facilities Planner is to assist in the programming and planning of healthcare, workplace, academic, and laboratory/research projects across all UTMB locations.Job Duties:

  • Assists in collecting and analyzing relevant data as part of the scenario planning and programming effort.
  • Conducts space surveys to understand space utilization for a specific department or to field verify existing conditions of a space.
  • Collaborates with the project team, end-users, stakeholders, and external consultants to define the project scope during the Project Definition phase.
  • Assists in identifying project requirements and applicable codes by participating in end-user engagements and collaborating with peers in Environmental Health & Safety.
  • Assists in developing test fits and pricing plans that document construction/renovation scope and associated project requirements, including personnel relocations, project phasing, FF&E, artwork, signage, and AV/IT.
  • Assists in processing, tracking, and evaluating solutions for internal Real Estate, Space, and Capital Requests.
  • Assists in preparing reports, presentations, or data analysis regarding UTMB facilities.
  • Supports Design & Construction Project Managers in the execution of approved projects by attending project meetings and participating in drawing reviews through Design Development.
  • Engages in continuous professional development and related activities to stay abreast of industry standards and benchmarks.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • The ideal candidate is self-motivated with a passion for space planning and design.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and visual communication skills.
  • Effective problem-solving, interpersonal skills, and ability to interface with customers.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail are essential.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Acrobat, Bluebeam Revu, AutoCAD, Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator.
  • Proficiency in SketchUp, Archibus, and EDMS is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in facilities planning for an academic medical center
  • Registered Architect in the State of Texas

Salary Range:The starting salary is $63,000.00 to $82,000.00. Actual salary is commensurate with experience.Work Schedule:Partial Remote, onsite as needed.
