Since all our programs are residential, we can’t compete with remote work scheduling. We demonstrate

employee referral bonus.Under the general direction of the Shelter Manager, will provide housing support and case management to interested and participating shelter guests. When not with shelter guests, the Case Manager will perform responsibilities typical of all shelter workers. Activities may include but are not limited to: maintaining cleanliness of work area, inventory and stocking, assisting with bed line and assignments, assisting with laundry services, linkage referrals to internal and external services, attending community meetings, and community outreach.In addition to overnight accommodations, we give our guests access to warm meals, clean showers, and essential laundry services. Additionally, personalized case management assistance is available to those seeking permanent housing and other person-centered services.Our primary programs include but are not limited to emergency food and housing, transitional housing, rent assistance, and addiction recovery.Shelter Worker Responsibilities

  • Collect, record and secure accurate up to date client files, including HIMS, Spero and/or physical files
  • Will provide linkage/referrals to community resources for mental health, social, spiritual, recreational, and basic needs
  • Observe, monitor and document resident behaviors as well as progress in accordance with agency standards
  • Attend and actively participate in staff meetings and trainings as required by supervisor and work as a member of the residential team for each resident
  • Regularly practices adherence to facility/program and ODM standards, and ensures documentation and policy requirements are followed
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations for self and others; provide appropriate de-escalation support and inform security when need arises; and notifying emergency response when appropriate.
  • Provide program coordination during showers, chapel, meal times, and smoke breaks
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness to work area
  • As needed, restock emergency hygiene supplies, note inventory and clothing items needed for restocking, assist with bed lines, and coordinate laundry services

Housing Responsibilities:

  • Under direction of Manager and Supervisor, implements housing services
  • Regularly performs VI-SPDAT applications with eligible shelter guests
  • Assess any housing barriers, and inquire and note what each client determines to be their individual needs
  • Create task goals with the client’s input, that directly address the identified individual needs
  • Assist guest in applications for housing and/or social services
  • Apply knowledge of leases to educate clients on application process, tenant rights, and responsibilities; serving as liaison between guest and landlords, mediating as needed or required.
  • May participate in outreach programs as needed or required by Shelter Manager or Supervisor
  • Coordinate the delivery of housing availability and support services to participating shelter guests (home visits and moving transportation not required)
  • Gather information to document – such as family size, income, barriers, eviction information, rental information, criminal or substance abuse history, anticipated shelter exit date or housing move date, veteran documentation, needed IDs
  • Compile data and submit reporting to shelter manager and supervisor
  • Actively participates in case reviews with shelter supervisor

COMPETENCIES:

  • Christian with a commitment to and a passion for “Changing Lives. Restoring Hope” in the lives of the impoverished, addicted and mentally ill
  • Knowledge of HMIS or VI-SPDAT strongly preferred
  • Experience helping clients find independent, stable housing
  • Experience working with those with mental health and addiction concerns
  • Demonstrates a high level of administrative detail and organization
  • Demonstrates ability to interact sensitively and respectfully with all persons
  • Able and willing to honor the leadership, chain of command, standards, and ministry objectives of ODM
  • Must maintain high degree of trustworthiness and reliability
  • Requires NYS driver’s license and have a driving record acceptable to ODM insurance carrier
  • For those in recovery, a minimum of 1 year sobriety

Expected salary: $40000 – 45000 per year
