Job description: This position is open to current Colorado State residents ONLY.Hybrid: In office 2 days a week at 1575 Sherman, Remote 3 days a weekPlease note: These working arrangements are subject to change.Please note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies.Work Unit: Located within the Colorado Department of Human Services, the Executive Director’s Office is responsible for the strategic direction and effective internal operations of the Colorado Department of Human Services (CDHS), working with the Governor’s Office, legislature, other government agencies, CDHS staff, counties, and a variety of stakeholders. CDHS’s vision is to empower Coloradans to thrive through bold and innovative health and human services. The Strategy Office team ensures the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the Executive Director’s Office by crafting and executing the Department’s Better Together strategic plan and provides oversight of related work stream priorities to achieve goals. The Strategy Office team comprises policy; Strategic Operations and Solutions; Equity, Diversity and Inclusion; and Communications.This position serves as the multimedia manager and graphic designer for the Department, coordinating with other communications staff, state agencies, vendors and offices within CDHS.This position is responsible for developing and overseeing multimedia content for CDHS and programs. This position works with the director of marketing, digital communications manager, internal communications manager and all office communications staff on a range of department-specific multimedia projects and programs, which may include graphic design, broadcast media, print, videography, and/or photography. This position is an active member of the CDHS communications team, responsible for collaborating with team members in brainstorming and problem solving.Minimum Qualifications:*Applicants are required to attach three professional work samples to their application (portfolio, graphic, video, banner, web content, multimedia content, etc..)*Experience and Education:Experience Only:
Six (6) years of relevant experience in graphic design or marketing communicationsOREducation and Experience:
A combination of related education in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Graphic Design, related advanced coursework in design, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to six (6) yearsSubstitutions:Additional appropriate experience will substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.Additional appropriate education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Minimum of 3 years, including hands-on experience with graphic design software.

Experience with videography and photography: Minimum 3 years experience with videography and photography, including video editing/photo editing software.Experience presenting data in easy-to-understand formats, graphics and/or tablesExperience working in non-profit organization, public sector environmentExperience developing a range of marketing materials including branding assets, social media content, presentations, visual identity and the like.Ability to work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams and tight deadlines and quick turnaround times.Highly Desirable Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Exceptional attention to detailComfortable working in a team environmentSelf-startedAbility to quickly comprehend complex issuesCritical thinking and problem solvingExcellent written and verbal communication skillsFlexibleCreativeEmotionally intelligentExcellent interpersonal and relationship-building skillsConditions of EmploymentOccasional travel to community events, presentations and other in-person gatherings may be necessary.Must pass a standard background check.Hybrid work arrangement subject to change based on business need.Former State employees who were disciplinarily terminated or resigned in lieu of termination must disclose the information on the application and provide an explanation why the prior termination or resignation should not disqualify the applicant from the current position. Checks, Professional License verification (licensure requirements), Drug Screen, PREA (Division of Youth Services), Trails check (direct contact with children), CAPS (direct contact with adults – Mental Health Institutes, Regional Centers, Veterans Community Living Centers). * Travel: Employee must be able to travel throughout all parts of the State of Colorado and potentially nationally.
