Job description: POSITION SUMMARY:
The Human Resource Generalist will provide client companies with consultation and advice on matters typically assigned to the Human Resource function. This is a true consulting role, that supports multiple clients, initiatives, and projects. Provide advice/counsel to other consultants as requested. This position provides tactical fundamental Human Resource support to the client’s top management; the consultant will deal with organizational issues including employee relations, employment law, policies and procedures, sexual harassment, discrimination, and matters of compliance. Support will consist of in-person, email, and technical telephone counsel. This is a true consulting role that requires onsite and remote support to clients. The HR (Human Resources) Generalist will use creativity and problem-solving skills to best meet the client’s needs and expectations. This is a part-time position with the possibility of becoming full-time, though this is not guaranteed.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Investigating and responding to all client inquiries regarding basic Human Resource concerns in a timely manner, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Provides consultative business strategy support to help align HR and organizational goals.
- Provides guidance on effective hiring practices that comply with federal, state, and local laws.
- Advising clients on the legal ramifications of federal and state laws, court precedent, and rulings.
- Documenting and maintaining HR records and metrics to provide feedback to clients.
- Make recommendations and serve as a sounding board in validating the client’s decision.
- Conduct HR audits and assessments for clients to identify gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Support clients in the recruitment and selection process, including developing job descriptions, conducting interviews, and making hiring decisions.
- Provide guidance and support to clients in the management of employee performance and disciplinary matters.
- Administer benefits and perform reconciliation.
- Assist with HR projects as needed.
- Knowledge of payroll processes is a plus.
- Requires onsite visits to clients to learn more about their business and processes.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):
- Strong HR Generalist Background; 5 plus years of broad-based professional experience with at least 3+ years in all aspects of HR generalist work.
- Bachelor’s Degree Required; Master’s Degree Preferred.
- Experience working with Senior level management.
- Employee Relations expert.
- Computer proficiency.
- Knowledge of HRIS and other HR related software.
- Microsoft Office proficiency.
- Must possess consulting skills that will effectively address key issues among various small business clients.
- Must be able to resolve client issues effectively, using HR and business acumen.
