Job description: SUMMARYNorthline Seafoods is a growing, innovative seafood processing company seeking an experienced HR Manager. As the HR Manager, this position will play a crucial role in overseeing all aspects of the human resources functions within the company. The key duties cover a wide variety of responsibilities and work tasks. Recruits, interviews, hires, onboards, and orients employees as well as works with leadership to develop and implement company policies, while ensuring multi-state compliance.ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Provide oversight and implementation of employee handbook, policies and procedures.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge and ensure compliance with multiple state and federal employment laws, regulations and company policies.
- Complete all new employee onboarding including paperwork, account creation, and company orientations.
- Maintain HR systems and processes.
- Manage the recruitment and hiring process, in coordination with department leaders, to develop and post job descriptions, screen applicants, interview candidates and extend job offers. Our seasonal workforce increases by approximately 100 employees.
- During our fishing season, ensure that our processing barge is fully staffed and maintains a rotation of replacement employees as needed.
- Administer and coordinate company employee benefit programs.
- Create and maintain personnel files and related HR documents, ensuring compliance and confidentiality.
- Handle workers comp claims and injury reporting management.
- Develop and implement performance review program.
- When necessary, investigate any employee claims that arise in conjunction with management.
- Ensure employment separations are documented and handled consistently.
- Coordinate and book employee travel.
- Foster a positive work environment and promote employee engagement and retention.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years experience in human resources management, preferably in the seafood processing or manufacturing sector
- Human resource training/certification
- High degree of integrity, ethics and confidentiality
- Knowledge of a broad range of human resource strategies and practices, including compensation, performance management, safety, hiring and employee relations and have the ability to apply these strategies and practices in compliance with employment regulations.
- Ability to use data and analytics to drive decision making
- Bilingual in Spanish strongly preferred
- Ability to travel to remote Alaska as needed during the summer processing season
- Ability to work extended hours during peak seasons and as needed
