Regardless of your role, background, or experience level, we believe every team member can make a significant impact.Your Mission:As a Lead Developer, you will lead the Hyrecar engineering team to enhance the effectiveness and capabilities of our engineering efforts. Your mission is to provide technical expertise and leadership, fostering a collaborative environment, and balancing technical excellence with solving real user problems. You will initially work on the Hyrecar product and codebase for the next 12-18 months. After this period, you will play a crucial role in migrating the Hyrecar product into the Getaround platform.This is a remote position, but the candidate must be available to work during Pacific time zone hours, with a couple of hours of overlap every day to work with our Paris office.What You’ll Do: Essential Duties & Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to the following)

  • Build New Features: Take features from initial exploration through conception, development, testing/QA, release, documentation, monitoring, and maintenance.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide technical leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices.
  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement strategies to enhance system performance, reliability, and ease of maintenance.
  • Code Quality: Review and write high-quality code to ensure adherence to standards, promoting a culture of clean code and continuous improvement.
  • System Architecture: Oversee the architectural direction and design of the Hyrecar product, ensuring alignment with long-term goals and objectives.
  • Team Development: Mentor and train developers, fostering technical growth and excellence within the team.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with product managers, developers, and cross-functional teams to define and prioritize technical tasks and projects.
  • Innovation: Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to drive innovation and keep the platform competitive.
  • Problem Solving: Resolve complex technical issues promptly, ensuring minimal disruption to the development process.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer and Architect.
  • Proficiency in technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React.
  • Strong back-end development skills with experience in languages like

and Typescript. * Expertise in database design and management with SQL and NoSQL databases.

  • Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS and Google Cloud.
  • Strong understanding of software design patterns, architecture principles, and best practices.
  • Self Driven with excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.

What You’ll Bring: Skills & Abilities (required)

  • Proven Experience: Proven experience as a Full Stack Developer with strong back-end development skills in Node.js, TypeScript, and GraphQL, and proficiency in frontend technologies and frameworks like React.
  • Leadership: Excellent leadership and people skills, with experience leading distributed teams and the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of software design patterns, architecture principles, best practices, and experience with both relational and non-relational databases.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to balance technical excellence with a focus on solving user problems and determining when to implement scrappy solutions versus robust, scalable ones.
  • Initiative: Autonomy and curiosity, coupled with critical thinking and a mindset of taking initiative.
  • User Focused: Understanding that the ultimate goal is to enhance user value through your contributions.
  • Communication: Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for leading a distributed team and working effectively with remote colleagues.
  • Team Player: Egoless programming mindset with the ability to take constructive feedback on the code you produce.

Work Environment:

  • Getaround is a remote-first work environment. The typical work environment includes desktop computing work using typical desktop computing equipment (laptop, keyboard, mouse, monitors, desk, chair) in a home office and/or other remote workspace environment.

Physical Demands:

  • Attendance at occasional early morning discussions with our European team members.
  • Ability to sit and use typical desktop computing workspace equipment – e.g. mouse, keyboard, monitor, phone – for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity to operate a typical desktop computing workstation.
  • Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing, using virtual meeting and communication tools such as email, Google Meet, and Slack.
