The Learning Designer collaborates closely with subject matter experts and programmatic ownership, leveraging educational technologies and applying instructional design principles to create effective, engaging, and accessible online learning solutions that align with Rasmussen University’s commitment to student success and academic excellence.Responsibilities:Interested in Joining Rasmussen University as a Learning Designer? As a Learning Designer you will:

  • Design and develop assigned courses using modern learning theories and applying instructional design principles and methodologies.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to create engaging and effective learning materials.
  • Create multimedia content, including videos, interactive activities, simulations, and assessments.
  • Utilize e-learning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline) to develop interactive content.
  • Ensure content is accessible and adheres to best practices in online education.
  • Use learning management systems (LMS) to build and organize course materials.
  • Integrate various educational technologies and platforms to enhance the learning experience.
  • Analyze learner data and feedback to identify areas for improvement in course design.
  • Review and revise course materials to ensure accuracy, clarity, and alignment with the course competencies.
  • Provide course content support to students and faculty as needed.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of course content.
  • Maintain clear and consistent communication with team members and stakeholders.
  • Conduct training sessions for faculty on best practices in online teaching and course design.
  • Stay current with the trends and advancements in online education, educational technology. and instructional design.

Reporting Relationships:The Learning Designer reports directly to the Learning Design Manager. This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide informal leadership and guidance to other team members and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams.Requirements:We are looking for Learning Designers with:

  • 1-3 years of experience in instructional design, e-learning development, training, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or a related field is required. Master’s degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience in designing and developing online courses for higher education.
  • Experience with online learning management systems (Blackboard, D2L, Moodle, etc.).
  • Proficiency in e-learning authoring tools such as Articulate Storyline, H5P, or similar.
  • Quality Matters (QM) certification or experience with QM standards preferred.
  • Strong understanding of instructional design models and theories (e.g., ADDIE, SAM, backward design).
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and ensuring course materials are accessible to all learners.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Adaptable to new technologies and tools.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Ability to analyze learner data and feedback to inform course improvements.
  • Creative problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
