Forbes Best-in-State EmployerMarine Cargo Surveyor (Remote)This role is open to be based remote out of Chicago, IL, Seattle, WA, Charleston, SC, Los Angeles, CA, Detroit, MI and various locations in Florida and Ohio. Travel required.PRIMARY PURPOSE: To inspect cargo damaged in transit and determine the nature, cause, and extent of damages; to review documents to determine when the cargo was damaged; and to provide written reports to underwriters and other parties with his/her qualified opinion as to the cause of loss.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIESOversees loading and unloading of cargo from ships and other forms of transit to document damages as they are loaded and/or unloaded.Inspects damaged ships to determine cause of the damage and amount of damage resulting from collisions or motor failures.ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS and RESPONSIBILITIESPerforms other duties as assigned.Supports the organization’s quality program(s).Travels as required.QUALIFICATIONSEducation & Licensing
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university preferred.Experience
Five (5) years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.Skills & KnowledgeGood oral and written communication skillsPC literate, including Microsoft Office productsGood customer service skillsGood organizational skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to meet or exceed Performance CompetenciesWORK ENVIRONMENT

Actual compensation is influenced by a wide range of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and cost of specific location. For the jurisdiction noted in this job posting only, the range of starting pay for this role is $80,000.00 – $110,000.00 USD annual salary. Bonus eligible.
