Location: 130 Perinton Pkwy , Fairport, NY. 14450 (Relocation is fine)The Mechanical Design Engineer/Mechanical Designer role reports to the engineering group that is primarily responsible for concepting, designing, and industrializing new intrusion products. The position will collaborate with electrical hardware engineers, RF engineers, and product management as part of a gated product development process.
What are the mandatory / non-negotiable skills this person MUST have to be considered? * CAD Drawing experience. Must have CREO experience.
- Plastic injection molding experience a plus. Houses and lens. Metal or plastic.
- Optics experience is a plus. Plastic optics not glass.
Motion devices, plastic and sheet metal enclosures.
This is not an entry level role. Need to know CREO. Candidates that know Solidworks will not work.
No technical assessment needed for this role.
This role is open due to a person retiring in mid October.

The Mechanical Design Engineer/Mechanical Designer role reports to the engineering group that is primarily responsible for concepting, designing, and industrializing new intrusion products. The position will collaborate with electrical hardware engineers, RF engineers, and product management as part of a gated product development process.
The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, a committed attention to detail, and the ability to work within a structured product development process. This hybrid role will require the ideal candidate to be onsite in our Fairport, NY office full time for the first 2 months of employment to get acclimated to our people, process and products. A Hybrid work week can be arranged after that with expectations of being in the office 2-3 times per week.

Responsibilities:
- Product concepting and designing:
- plastic optical (Fresnel) lenses and light pipes for use in intrusion motion detector products
- plastic enclosures for motion detectors, keypads, and other intrusion products
- sheet metal enclosures
- simulation analysis- interference analysis, tolerance stack-up, finite element analysis
- Create prototypes of product designs or engineering fixtures utilizing onsite machine shop equipment or external job shops
- Perform pre-compliance and mechanical testing on product sample builds. For example: impact analysis, drop testing, torque testing
- Support tooling activities including: drawing updates, sample inspection, product testing, and release documentation
Qualifications
- BS in mechanical engineering or related technical degree with 5+ years relevant experience preferred.
- Extensive experience with PTC Creo.
- Knowledge in optical lens design (Fresnel), plastic enclosure design, and sheet metal enclosure design.
- Experience in material properties (plastic, metal).
- Ability to collaborate across functions as part of a design team.
- Proficient at the MS suite of applications including: Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Very limited domestic and international travel and ability to work across global time zones.
Preferred Qualifications:
- CREO certification- Modeling Professional, Surfacing Professional, Analysis Professional, or Associate Certification.
- Ability to operate manual machine shop equipment such as: mill, drill press, band saw, lathe.
- Optical design software experience.
- SAP experience.
- AutoCAD.
