Job description: Overview:BigBear.ai is seeking a an experienced and agile trained Software Project Manager to lead our team in developing and implementing advanced AI/ML solutions for an Operational Planning and Resource Allocation System used by the Department of Defense. The successful candidate will be part of an exciting 2-year program that is just beginning, focusing on enhancing critical defense capabilities performance, and resilience through the integration of cutting-edge Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning (AI/ML) technologies.This position will be based out of Laurel, MD and will offer remote flexibility. What you will do:As the Project manager for this project, you will contribute to the development and implementation of analytics and data-driven decision support tools that will improve the capabilities of our Operational Simulation and Planning Platform using AI/ML. Your work will involve:
- Project Planning: Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope, timelines, resources, and budget.
- Team Leadership: Coordinate cross-functional teams including data scientists, software engineers, and UX/UI designers.
- Stakeholder Management: Communicate project status, risks, and issues to stakeholders and executive leadership.
- Risk Management: Identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
- Performance Tracking: Monitor project progress and performance metrics, ensuring alignment with project goals.
- Resource Allocation: Manage resource allocation effectively to meet project deadlines and objectives.
- Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of project processes, changes, and lessons learned.
- Agile Methodology: Implement and facilitate Agile methodologies (e.g., Scrum, Kanban) as applicable.
- Quality Assurance: Oversee quality control throughout the project lifecycle.
What you need to have:
- Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain a SECRET level clearance or higher
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, business or a related field
- Experience with managing projects for at least 6 years, and managing Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) projects
- Interfacing with customers and managing fast-paced projects
- Agile Software Development Projects
- Managing DoD projects
- Ability to listen to problems and develop creative and collaborative solutions
What we’d like you to have:
- Technical Proficiency: Understanding of AI/ML concepts, tools, and technologies.
- Agile Methodology Experience: Proficiency in Agile project management methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence, Scaled Agile Framework, Disciplined Agile, Scrum).
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate diverse teams.
- Experience with:
- AEGIS Program
- 8-10 years’ experience supporting US Navy surface warfare programs
- Software Development Lifecycle Management tools such as JIRA to manage requirements within waterfall, Agile, and/or hybrid software lifecycles
- 2-3 years prior AI/ML SW Development experience
- Navy or MDA functional Weapons System Development, Program Management, Testing and Evaluation, Fielding and/or contingency planning.
- Education: DAWAI Certification Level III in Program Management or PMP certification strongly desired
