Job description: Description :Purpose and ScopeThe Senior Director Enterprise Applications is responsible for strategic planning, execution and management of the enterprise applications portfolio. This includes overall responsibility for planning, architecture, design, implementation and deployment of new implementations, enhancements, and upgrades of commercial, technical and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software applications. Responsible for planning and overseeing technical development being executed by both internal and vendor led teams, while working collaboratively with business units delivering technical solutions that meet budgets, goals and timelines.Responsible for developing the IT department application strategy, working with senior IT Leadership and other senior leaders to ensure business alignment and maintains positive professional relationships with management in all functions within the company and actively seeks their input and guidance in the planning process. Must be able to understand, communicate, and influence how IT applications technology can be used to help the company grow and prosper as a business.The Senior Director Enterprise will develop digital maturity for the organization and oversee the development, enhancement, deployment and management of applications to better engage and equip employees for modern work. Responsibilities will include collaboration in developing strategic roadmaps, managing the deployment and support of applications, encouraging adoption of these applications, fostering workers’ digital dexterity, and elevating employees’ digital experiences. This IT Leadership position will also optimize costs, ensure adherence to security protocols, and use analytics to monitor and report on application performance. This leadership position demands a blend of business functional knowledge, technical knowledge, strategic thinking and strong management skills.Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Strategic leadership: Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for enterprise applications that supports Tolmar’s business goals and objectives.
- Participates as a key decision maker and thought leader within the senior IT Leadership Team for expanding the value add of IT within Tolmar business units. This includes developing strategies, managing budget, and providing value engineering for systems, processes and procedures that provide innovation and transformation.
- Leadership of digital innovation by identifying opportunities for innovation and improvement, while overseeing ongoing implementation of multiple, overlapping large application initiatives.
- Provide team leadership and development by leading, mentoring and developing a high-performance team of IT professionals. Foster a culture of innovation, excellence, and ongoing improvement. Lead analysis and design sessions through interactions with users, management, and system groups. Interface with clients and develop strong business relationships with key personnel.
- Lead staff to provide commercially available or custom solutions that meet the needs of the business, from conception through implementation following standard System Development Lifecycle processes and in accordance with applicable regulations (SOX and GxP).
- Oversee the management of our enterprise applications portfolio, ensuring it meets current and future business requirements. Evaluate and prioritize objects based on strategic alignment, return on investment and risk. Identify and assess opportunities for system modernization, integration, automation, and viability. Provide technical hands-on development support for custom applications and/or oversee application development resources (internal or external).
- Develop and manage project timelines and technical resources. Communicate with users, functional and technical staff, and contractors as required to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure operational excellence by safeguarding the reliability, availability and performance of our enterprise applications. Implement best practices for application life cycle management, including development, deployment, maintenance and support.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with key vendors and partners. Develop a nuanced understanding of strategic vendors’ roadmaps and how these will support the company’s business objectives. Collaborate with sourcing and vendor management teams to strengthen the company’s position when negotiating with software and service vendors.
- Consult the VP of IT on new technological trends and industrial practices and recommend strategic solutions and tactical plans.
- Work closely with IT Leadership to develop and manage the budget for enterprise applications, ensuring optimal allocation of resources and cost-effectiveness.
- Develop an IT Architecture Plan based upon ongoing technology research and discussions with business leadership. Update plan annually.
- Comply with and model compliance with external regulations including Internal Controls, SOX and Pharmaceutical GxP regulations.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills & AbilitiesLeadership and decision-making abilities with readiness to lead, coach, inspire and develop innovative teams. Ability to foster a culture of continuous improvement while demonstrating sound judgment and making timely, effective decisions.
- Technical expertise with a strong background and in-depth knowledge of enterprise application platforms, database management, cloud computing, web development, and Artificial Intelligence (AI)/ Machine Learning (ML) technologies.
- Direct experience leading implementation, delivery and / or support of large and complex system(s) on time and within budget. SAP, Oracle EBS or Microsoft Dynamics AX preferred.
- Strong knowledge of compliance frameworks and regulations including Cobit, and SOX. Working knowledge of GxP regulations desired but not required.
- Broad based IT knowledge and experience to effectively manage IT Applications with the ability to use strategic planning to translate business goals into technology solutions.
- Excellent vendor management and negotiation skills.
- Results driven self-starter who models initiative.
- Strong Customer Orientation. Demonstrated successful track record managing service organization that receives high customer satisfaction ratings.
- Understands database design, SDLC (Systems Development Lifecycle) management, file systems and programming languages.
- Demonstrated ability in managing shifting priorities, technical challenges, and technologies trends.
- Strong ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from IT customers in a professional and supportive manner. Must demonstrate ability to effectively deal with and resolve conflict.
- Experience in hiring and retention of talented individuals.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills. Ability to collaborate and effectively present information to executive management, stakeholders and teams across the organization in clear non-technical language.
- Must be articulate and able to effectively influence people to achieve common goals.
- Demonstrated capability of managing multiple projects concurrently and effectively influencing matrixed resources to meet project goals. Experience with Agile methodologies and Change Management.
- Financial acumen with understanding financial principles and ability to manage budgets and optimize costs.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities; proficiency in data analysis and performance metrics. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete constructs.

Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related field.
- Twelve years of combined experience in Information Technology.
- Five years increasing managerial experience in IT.
- Proven track record of leading digital innovation initiatives and implementing large-scale IT projects.
- Demonstrated success in vendor and stakeholder management.
Working Conditions
- Working conditions are consistent with a normal office environment and/or remotely from home office.
- Some travel might be required.
Compensation and Benefits
- Pay: $220,000 – $245,000 annually, depending on experience
