This role uses data from a variety of UHC platforms to describe the utilization, cost and quality gaps of our members in Value Based Care (VBC) provider groups. This is a position that is highly matrixed with the UHC Population Health and Value Based Care team, Clinical Operations, and Line of Business Alignment. The person must be a self-starter and solid leader with outstanding analytical skills.The Sr. Database Developer/Clinical Performance will drive clinical relationships and engagement with internal partners (such as Health Care Economics, Medical Directors, Reporting, Health Plan market leaders) with a goal of improving health, well-being, quality and practice performance while reducing medical costs. This includes but is not limited to the reporting and tracking of improvement on total cost of care, HEDIS and STARs gap closure, coding accuracy, facilitating effective education and reporting effective super utilizer tracking (e.g., members with complex and/or chronic conditions). The Sr. Database Developer will also proactively identify performance improvement opportunities through the use of data analytics, technology, workflow changes, and clinical support. The Sr. Database Developer will develop comprehensive ACO, Health Homes, and provider-specific reporting packages to help increase physician practice performance, and improve member outcomes.You’ll enjoy the flexibility to work remotely * from anywhere within the U.S. as you take on some tough challenges.Primary Responsibilities:
- Develop, test, implement and maintain application software working with established processes
- Identify opportunities to fine-tune, optimize, and automate processes
- Communicate effectively with team
- Establish, refine and integrate development and test environment tools and software as needed
- Identify production and non-production application issues
- Provide technical support and consultation for SQL programs, SAS, SSIS Packages, Snowflake and other infrastructure questions
- Design code to support automation of programs/routines/processes utilizing Python, C#, or other languages
- Identify, understand and clarify business and/or technology problems
- Communicate system and architecture design to all stakeholders
- Acquire and maintain working knowledge of databases, source systems and integration points, and architecture that support the end-to-end flow of data
- Evaluate proposed system changes for upstream/downstream system and/or business process/departmental impacts
- Present and evaluate design solutions objectively and facilitate conflict resolution
- Develop detailed data mapping and data transformation rules
- Document and communicate system specifications
- Perform system walk-through (i.e., with business analyst, testers, customers, stakeholders)

- 5+ years of SQL Server and/or Snowflake experience including data transformation activities (i.e.- moving data between sources)
- 3+ years of experience working with scripts and the ability to automate processes with stored procedures and/or other methods
- 3+ years of experience in Systems Analysis and/or IT Development
- Healthcare experience
- Proven ability to learn and understand the various source systems used across the organization and the ability to understand any impacts to the end-to-end data integrity pertaining to C&S, E&I, and M&R data reporting
- Proven ability to learn and understand which applications are used within each department and for what purpose. Use this knowledge to help develop solutions that help the business perform tasks more efficiently and effectively
Preferred Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in all phases of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- 2+ years of experience designing Power BI and/or Tableau reports
- United Health Group work experience
- Experience working in a role to support HEDIS and/or other quality/clinical measurement programs
- Familiar with UnitedHealthcare data (claims, quality, provider and member information), such as C&S SMART, MDE, MLD, and UGAP
- Proven solid oral and written communication skills, presentation skills and technical documentation
- Proven excellent collaborator
- Proven solid problem-solving and decision-making skill
- Proven solid emotional intelligence
- Proven ability to develop innovative approaches
- Proven ability to serve as a leader / mentor

Residents Only: The salary range for this role is $88,000 to $173,200 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
