Spoonflower’s global marketplace connects our customers to more than 1 million designs by independent artists from around the world.Spoonflower seeks a skilled and motivated Mid-Level Backend Engineer to join our team. As a Backend Engineer, you will work closely with other engineers, product managers, and UX designers to develop and maintain backend services that support our platform.What You Will Do Here:

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs.
  • Collaborate with front-end engineers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
  • Optimize backend applications for maximum speed and scalability.
  • Implement data storage solutions and manage database systems.
  • Ensure the performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade existing software.
  • Write and maintain technical documentation.

The Skills You Will Bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in backend development, preferably with Node.js.
  • Proficiency in TypeScript.
  • Experience with RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
  • Familiarity with database technologies such as DynamoDB, PostgreSQL, or MySQL.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS.
  • Knowledge of event-driven architecture and experience with technologies like Kafka, Kinesis, or SQS.
  • Understanding of security principles and how they apply to e-commerce applications.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks.
  • Ability to quickly learn and apply new technologies.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with headless CMS and commerce technologies.
  • Familiarity with ElasticSearch.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Knowledge of serverless architectures.
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk

The base pay ranges included below are specific to the locations listed and may not be applicable to other locations.California : [$99,000 -140,000]Connecticut, New York, and Rhode Island: [$99,000 – 128,250]Colorado and Washington: [$99,000 -118,750]Nevada: [$ 93,000 – 128,250]This position may be eligible for a bonus incentive, health benefits, a 401K program, and other employee perks.
