We are looking to hire an ambitious tax preparer and great communicator who wants to work full-time and support small to mid-size businesses & individuals.This is a full-time, permanent position. You will play an important role in promoting our services and expertise to prospects and clients.Basic Functions:The Tax Associate would use their expertise to remotely prepare simple and complex, individual and business Federal and State tax returns. You will work closely with our clients, and support other tax preparers in day-to-day tasks related to preparation. You’ll review the accuracy of data on tax forms based on all tax rules and regulations. To succeed in this role, it’s important to have advanced mathematical skills and the ability to analyze complex data. If you have relevant experience and want to join our team, we’d like to hear from you.The main responsibility of a Tax Associate is to ensure that clients pay the correct amount of taxes owed to government agencies.Tax Preparation – Main Responsibilities:
- Prepare Individual and business federal and state tax returns on behalf of clients.
- Electronically file tax returns on behalf of clients.
- Using applicable federal, state and local tax law to determine deductions and how much each client will pay or earn on the return.
- Demonstrate a thorough understanding of professional accounting practices.
- During tax preparation, ensure compliance with government tax rules.
- Research and keep abreast of current IRS and state and local tax rules and regulations and ensuring full compliance.
- Meet with clients via virtual meetings as needed to answer questions and present tax returns.
- Answer tax- and finance-related questions.
- Identify tax savings and suggest ways to reduce taxation.
- Advise individuals and companies on tax strategies.
- Advise clients about tax liabilities and other tax-related matters.
- Estimate and track tax returns.
- Calculate and prepare tax payments for clients.
- Review data on reports and detect possible errors.
- Organize and analyze clients’ financial information.
- Establish and update client records.
- Collect data from income statements and expense documents.
- Complete clients’ tax documentation.

Requirements
- 5+ years of demonstrated ability to prepare individual & business tax returns (1040, 1120, 1120S, 1065, etc).
- 2+ years of experience using Intuit Tax Online for/in a professional organization for tax preparation and filing.
- 2+ years of experience using QuickBooks Online for/in a professional organization.
- BSc degree in Accounting, Finance or relevant subject; industry certification (e.g. CMA or CPA) is preferred
- Familiar with Outlook and Office 365 Online Suite (Outlook Online, Microsoft ToDo, Microsoft Teams Meetings, and SharePoint/OneDrive).
- Strong numeracy skills.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Comprehensive/extensive knowledge of IRS rules and regulations as well as state and local tax laws
- Able to communicate powerfully, clearly, and professionally – both orally and in writing.
- Confidence in learning and embracing new technologies, and a willingness to consistently and accurately follow established policies and procedures.
- Strong time management skills to complete work within strict deadlines.
- Willingness to build strong remote team relationships based on trust, accountability, integrity, and shared learning and training.
Desired Qualifications:
- QuickBooks Online Certification (or QuickBooks Online Advanced Certification)
- Dedicated office space with a reliable, high-speed internet connection.
- Capacity and commitment to work 40 hours per week.
- Willing to take and make phone calls as needed when urgent contact with a client is necessary to complete their requested bookkeeping tasks.
- Strong written and oral communication skills to explain tax information to clients.
- Multitasking skills to handle multiple clients’ tax preparations at the same time.
