Provide diagnostic assessment and evidence-based, time-limited psychotherapy intervention to adults for a variety of psychiatric conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and adjustment disorders.
The VMG Psychotherapist is a core member of the Collaborative Care team, including the patient’s medical provider and psychiatric consultant, as well as the larger medical team. The Psychotherapist is responsible for supporting and coordinating the mental and physical health care of patients on an assigned patient caseload with the patient’s medical provider and, when appropriate, other mental health providers.Performs behavioral health screenings, diagnostic and psychosocial assessments utilizing the DSM, implements short term, evidence based psychosocial (i.e. problem-solving treatment, behavioral activation) interventions including crisis intervention. Develops treatment plans and disposition plans, coordinates with community providers and makes referrals as needed. Systematically track treatment response. Actively collaborate with team to meet patient care needs and system improvement goals. Represents the behavioral health enterprise on institutional and community committees/task forces.This specific position will focus on the mental health needs of women, especially in the perinatal and post-partum periods. This will be a hybrid remote/on-campus position..KEY RESPONSIBILITIESMaintains professional documentation which meets departmental and VUMC standards as it relates to compliance.Provides targeted interventions for identified clients via in person and teletherapy services.Completes psychosocial assessment and assists team with the development and implementation of the plan of care.Meet regularly with team leaders to discuss caseload progression. Will be expected to discharge and accept new clients on an ongoing basis.Provides education and or consultation to clients, treatment team and community.Attends division and department meetings as scheduled via TEAMS or in person as appropriate.The responsibilities listed are a general overview of the position and additional duties may be assigned.Position Qualifications:Required:Master’s Degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy or equivalentLicensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor-MHSP, or Licensed Marital and Family Therapist.TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES

  • Crisis Intervention (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate crisis intervention in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Risk Management (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate risk management of moderate difficulty. Capable of conducting risk analysis as part of a task to address problems including determining risk factors, probability, impact, early detection and prevention. Able to prepare simple contingency plans and alternatives.
  • Patient Assessment (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate patient assessments in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
  • Patient Evaluation (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate the ability to conduct a patient evaluation in practical applications of moderate difficulty. Capable of effectively assessing the relative merits of alternative products or services.
  • Clinical Counseling (Novice): Possesses sufficient fundamental proficiency to successfully demonstrate clinical counseling in practical applications of moderate difficulty.
